The transition from 2006 to 2009 takes time to understand and learn. One of the biggest hurdles is not having the layer pull-down available all the time in the old position. The new Layer palette, that is set to auto-hide on the left side of your screen, was meant to replace the small pull-down. This tip will show you how to replicate this smaller layer pull-down in the PostalCAD 2009 interface to make things more familiar to older versions. |
|
Start with minimizing the ribbon as shown in this tip from 12/14/2009. If you don't minimize the ribbon, the available amount of useable drawing window will be reduced to a level that may not be productive. |

| |
Display the Layers toolbar by right-clicking on any button in the Quick Access toolbar. This toolbar is at the top of the application window, to the right of the large blue "M". Select Layers from the list. |
| |
|
| |
Optionally, you can type "-toolbar" at the command prompt, enter "layers", and choose the Show option. |
| |
Next we will dock the toolbar in the top left corner of the drawing window by
holding down the left mouse button on the left border of the layers toolbar
and dragging to the position shown below. |
| |
|
|
You now have full time access to your layer pull-down just like previous versions and
the ribbon will expand over the toolbar when picking items from any expanded tab panel. |
