| Many users lock layers that most likely will never need to be edited for the life of the drawing file. Columns, column grid, exterior walls, and stairways are just a small list of example layers to lock. This tip shows the new way to present and modify those locked layers in the PostalCAD 2009 interface. |
A drawing without any locked layers presents the objects without any fading. |
Use the PostalCAD 2009 layer locking tool by entering LOC at the command line. Select any object on the layer you want to lock and then press ENTER to honor the selection set.
Note:The command allows you to select multiple layers to lock if you need to. The tool also allows you to unselect a layer from the selection set by picking on it a second time if you picked the wrong object. |
| |
The layers you choose will be locked and the objects will appear faded. |
Final hint: The locked layer fading can be controlled using the AutoCAD LAYLOCKFADECTL system variable.
A positive number, up to 90, will adjust the intensity, and entering a 0 (zero), turns fading off.
