Tip 1/18/10
Tip for Week 1/18/10

When you first install PostalCAD 2009 the interface has the Dynamic Input set to be On by default. Dynamic Input is to keep all the command line information at your cursor to help focus on the drawing area. Unfortunately, this becomes a double edged sword. On the one hand you want to focus on the drawing area, but on the other hand, you want to keep things simple and un-cluttered.

Most users decide to turn this feature off by using the Dynamic Input button on the status bar.

Status bar icon button shown On

Status bar icon button shown Off

Status bar icon button with text shown On

More advanced users will want to customize this feature to still be shown, yet be a little less intrusive. Those users need to open the Drafting Settings dialogue box to make the tweaks necessary for optimal use.

Enter DSETTINGS at the command line or right-click on the Dynamic Input status bar icon and choose "Settings...".

This initial screen is for overall toggling of elements while the additional settings are in sub-dialogue boxes.

I will suggest that you try one or just a few of these settings at a time to make sure you fully understand how they will change the way you work, have fun!
