Printing your file is fairly easy to do once you have changed some of the settings and printed a few test plots, but there are times when you need objects to stand out from the others. Making them into polylines and changing their width is very time consuming and if the width is not correct, you'll need to change everything back.
This week I'll show you quickly how to change printed widths using the Lineweight column in the Layer Properties Manager palette.
|
| Open a drawing and expand the Layer Properties palette by moving your cursor to the far left of the drawing window. |
|
You may have to move the slider bar at the bottom of the palette to see the Lineweight column clearly. |
|
| |
Highlight the layer you want to print wider and left-click on the current Lineweight listing. |
| |
|
| |
| |
The Lineweight dialogue box will appear showing the current line weight. |
| |
|
| |
Select the line weight that you want to print with. A width of 0.25 mm will give you a nice bold line weight and if you have line weights showing with fractional inches, use the 0.010" setting which is very close to the metric. |

| You may have to run a few test prints to ensure the actual width is correct, but once the width is set, you won't have to change it agin, the width is saved with the file. |
