Tip for Week 5/25/09

AutoCAD has the individual MOVE, ROTATE, and SCALE commands, PostalCAD has the the MOVE and ROTATE commands brought together into one command, and the AutoCAD ALIGN command can combine all three together in one command.

Enter ALIGN at the command prompt and then select the object you want to align.  Select the first alignment point on the object you are aligning and then select the point you want this to align to, or eventually touch.  Pick the second point to align, on the object you are moving, and then pick a second destination spot.  There is a third source point prompt, but most of the time two is good enough, so just hit Enter to accept the <continue> prompt.  Last step is to decide if you want to scale the selected object to the two destination points or not.  Again, most of the time you don't need to scale anything, so just use the Enter key again to accept the <N>, for no scaling option.
