File management is just a given task when you work with AutoCAD. Backup files are the most famous for taking up large amounts of hard drive space. Here are a few tips for finding and removing these files from your system.
The backup files you'll be looking for should have been created each time you save a drawing file and placed in the current directory. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the folder with your working drawing files. Right-click on this folder and select Search from the list. Enter *.bak in the search file name area to look for all files with the extension .bak. Select the search button and the wizard will find all the backup files. Highlight them all and push the delete button. Close out the wizard.
Please don't make the mistake of searching all of drive C:. The operating system and other programs will use files with the .bak extension also, so be careful not to delete these other backups! |
