Are the columns in your Layer Properties Manager all scrunched up, so that you can't see the full string of text for a certain column?  Here's a few tips to help you see the listings a bit better.

Open the Layer Properties dialogue box and look at the column headers over the layer properties.  If you move your cursor in between the column headings, the shape of the cursor will change to a line with arrow heads on each end.  Either, double on this spot to maximize the column to the left, or hold down the left mouse button to manually resize the columns.

Another easy way to maximize all the columns at one time is to simply right-click on any heading and chose Maximize all columns.
