Here's one of those hidden tools in Map 3D that will surprise even the most advanced users.
If you type OBJECTVIEWER at the command line or choose it from the Civil menu pull-down, a prompt asks you to select objects. After selecting some objects, the Object Viewer window appears, filtering out the objects selected. Now you can pan, zoom, and manipulate just these objects. The beauty of this utility is not only the fact that you can make the viewing window as large or larger than your current one, but you can save the viewer state to an image file. You can also make the final view the current one using the "set current" button. Try this utility out for a few minutes and see if you can find some use for it in your projects.
One last addition. After the viewer has been loaded and used at least once in an Autodesk Map session, you have gained several extra listings to the right-click menu when objects are selected before a command is active. Highlight a few objects, right-click, and play around with your new listings!
You would need to re-load the viewer if the right-click options weren't present for each time you start AutoCAD. |
