Does your cursor seem to hang-up for a long time when you hover over a hatched area?

A simple fix is to open the Options dialogue box to the Selection tab and uncheck the selection preview listings.  These two check boxes allow AutoCAD to highlight selection sets below the cursor.  Hatches typically show a lot of lines in an area, provoking the video card to slow down when trying to show you all those entities being highlighted.
