Last Week's Tip
Last Week's Tip 7/19/10
Many users lock layers that most likely will never need to be edited for the life of the drawing file. Columns, column grid, exterior walls, and stairways are just a small list of example layers to lock. This tip shows the new way to present and modify those locked layers in the PostalCAD 2009 interface.

PostalCAD 2009 has a great new feature for fading locked layers.
This fading can be controlled to look and feel just right through the Ribbon.
Follow along to see how you can change the fading level easily.

Open a drawing that has locked layers or lock a few layers in your current drawing.

Note: The column grid layer is locked in this drawing

Expand the User Interface panel on the Ribbon's
Display tab to see the locked layer control slider.

Locked layer fading control slider.

Simply move your cursor over the black vertical bar, hold
down the left mouse button, and slide to a new value.
Adjust until the fading level is just right for you.

Black vertical slider moved to 30%

Note: A value of 0% removes all fading and a value of 90%
(maximum value available), will make the objects almost invisible.
