Tip for Week 12/04/06

So why is that coordinate display always showing in the bottom left corner of your AutoCAD screen?

Well, let's see. You can tell if your units are set to Architectural by looking at the numeric format. Saves you the time of having to check the units dialogue box.

Another very nice feature of the coordinate display, is that you can check multiple distances from a start point while in a command.  Try this.  Start the line command and pick the first point, preferably on an object, say the corner of a rectangle.  Now hover your mouse over the Endpoint snaps of the other corners. Voila! You can now check the distance to multiple snap points, dynamically on the screen!  The running Osnap's override the actual curser position and snap to the accurate geometry for your distances.  Sure beats having to use the distance command multiple times, or worse yet, create multiple dimensions that have to be erased to simply check a few distances.
