Tip for Week 11/20/06

If you have installed the full Adobe Acrobat software you will find menu's or toolbars in many Windows programs by default.  This may be great for Outlook or Word, but in AutoCAD you get two menu's and a toolbar!

If all you do is plot or publish, using the PDF format, you probably don't want the extra menu listings and you will just use the plot dialogue box to make PDF documents.  To remove the menu's you must remove the ARX files from the C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\PDFMaker\AutoCAD directory.

Simply removing the menu's using the CUI editor will only temporarily remove them for that editing session.  The ARX files in the Adobe directory will load the menu's into the CUI editor if the menu's are not found on the initial start up of your AutoCAD application.

A simple move to another back up directory will preserve the right to re-issue the utilities without reloading Adobe Acrobat by simply moving the ARX folders and files back to their original location.  There will be no errors at the command line either!
