Tip for Week 9/4/06

This week is a little test.

What is the quickest way to determine the correct size that text should be drawn in model space, that will print out to be 3/32" tall, when you are in model space mode of a layout tab viewport?

SPACETRANS is the answer.  When in model space mode of a layout tab viewport, right-click and select "Convert MS to PS".  At the "specify paper space distance, type in 3/32".  As an example, a viewport with the scale of 1/8"=1', the command line answer is 9.000000050033326.  Now make some 9" tall text and it will print at 3/32" from your layout tab.  The answer is in fourteen places of decimal accuracy, but by the 8th decimal place, you can round off a little bit.

Last tip.  This is a great tool for determining the text size in viewports that are "scaled to fit" the extents of the viewport boundaries, rather than a preset scale.
