Tip for Week 7/10/06

Have you ever run across a file that used the Express tool utility TEXTMASK and found only the masking frame with no text associated to it?

This anomaly occurs occasionally with this TEXTMASK utility.  The entities should be erased when you delete the text associated to them, but sometimes only the text gets deleted.  The problem is that the masking entities are, by default, custom proxy entities called wipeouts, and the frames of these objects are not selectable unless the surrounding frame is turned on.  To toggle the Wipeout frames on to select them, enter WIPEOUT at the command line and use the Frames option by typing F.  Enter On at the prompt and issue a return.  The frames are now visible and selectable.  You can now delete those wipeouts without text associated to them.

These wipeout objects can also be selected with the quick select utility using raster image as the object type.  This option will select all the wipeouts in your drawing and any other raster images contained in your file.
