The last tip of 2005 is about template
files. Everyone learns
about creating template files and probably has a few ready for those times
when a new file is started. A reminder to all, is that those template
files are also excellent material for use with an existing file.
A good example is when a file comes from an outside source that does not
have the correct layers, linetypes, fonts, or blocks that need to be
followed, simply insert your template. You now won't have to type in
all those layer names that you are about to change or insert those needed
blocks. Just use the new listings that were created from the template
insertion.
The reverse concept is to save your
template file as another name and then insert the file from the outside
source into it.
Last helpful hint, don't forget to
purge the inserted file, and any unused entities, when you are done with the
template.
