Did you know that a half circle can
be created with only two mouse clicks?
An undocumented secret to the
fillet command is that if two lines are parallel to each other, picking the
end point of each line will create a 180 degree arc between them. The
relative end points of each line do not need to be perpendicular to each
other. The first line picked will be the length which stays the same,
and the other line picked, if not perpendicular to the first line, will
shorten to match the first.
As an example, draw a horizontal line, with Ortho turned
on, and then copy it just above the first, with Ortho turned off, a little to the right of the
first line. Now use the fillet command on the top line, first, then
the bottom line, and see what
happens.
This is a nice option for
surrounding text with two straight lines, and two half circles at each end.
