I use my base drawing in a lot of
files as an Xref. Is there an easy way to insert the Xref every time
without having to navigate through the folder structure for each insertion?
Oh yes there is. Tool Palettes
strike again. Insert your plant drawing within a new file as an X-ref, then open
the Design Center, set the Current Drawing tab current, highlight Xrefs,
left-click and hold on your plant drawing and drop it onto your custom tool
palette! You can also fine tune that new listing by right-clicking on
the icon and choose Properties from the list. The default layer for
insertion and prompting for rotation could be set for all instances.
You could also change the property for attaching or overlaying the Xref at
any time. Remember
that tool palettes can be added to or shortened very easily, so if you are
only going to be using the chosen Xref for a couple of days, it will still
be worth the time to add the tool and then remove it later, after the
project is over with, to reduce clutter and complexity on your palette real
estate. |
