Why does it take forever for Autodesk
Map 3D 2005 to load?
The official Autodesk documentation suggests 512 kb of memory minimum.
In reality that means you better have this much or AutoCAD will open REAL
slow and take forever to do just about anything complex task. The
layer dialogue box is another sore spot for lack of snappy speed.
Right-click on the "My Computer"
icon on your desktop and see how much RAM you are running. A typical
rule of thumb for any software manufacturers minimum requirements is to
double them. 1 gb of RAM will have AutoCAD sing praises instead of the
blues, on open, and layering.
RAM can be deceiving for pricing.
Check the online resources other than name brand computer sites and you can
upgrade for 1/3 the brand name price!
