Why can't I get rid of that layer!
I have isolated that layer, turned everything on, off, frozen, thawed.
It just won't go away!
Never fear citizens, the Quick Select command will help
you! These un-erasable layers usually have a block entity that resides
on the layer with no objects on that layer within the block. Don't
forget that a block entity is just the wrapper for holding the selection set
together, as one. Simply open the properties box and pick the Qselect
button, a blue funnel with yellow lightning bolt, and fill in the
appropriate entries as needed to select the layer with the invisible object.
Use the following criteria in the Qselect dialogue box:
Apply to: Entire drawing
Object type: Multiple (as many
objects as found)
Properties: Layer (forcing the
utility to only look for layer criteria)
Operator: = Equals (That equals
what?)
Value: (The layer in question!)
Poof! the invisible object, usually
a block reference, appears as a selection set! You can now change the
properties to another layer or delete the said object. A purge will
delete the layer that it is now empty.
Note that sometimes the selection
set lists a text entity. The text listing is a piece of text with no
characters in it. You may even find a blank block entity that has no
objects in it! Use the PostalCAD 2005 commands from the cleanup menu,
Erase Blank Text (ET), or Erase Blank Blocks (EB), in a drawing to expedite
the previous scenario!
A little common sense and a firm
slap on the forehead will get rid of those layers, once and for all!
