Tip for Week 09/06/04

Exports.  AutoCAD files that are sent to others in your project or work environment may need to be in other formats than the standard .dwg format sometimes.  How about needing a way to get rid of that pesky little pop-up dialogue box that asks if you want to save the Map information with your drawings?  This need and question can be remedied very simply by using the Export command in AutoCAD.

At the File menu pull-down, issue the Export command.  This is a standard file open dialogue box where you designate a directory for the final file to reside.  Where the real fun begins is the area labeled "Files of type", where you decide what translation to apply to your file.  The pull-down list is vast and robust.  Many of these formats cover just about every type of program that may be needed to look at your drawing file.  Don't forget about the .dwg listing at the very bottom.  This one will rid you of those pesky Map dialogue box reminders!
