Last week I gave you a few tips for helping you not get in trouble with linetypes. This week I'll show
the 3D users a nice feature that will give hidden line projections a better
visual punch for their money.
In the Options dialogue box and under the User
Preferences tab, there is a button for Hidden Line Settings. These
settings allow the user to have the lines that would typically be hidden
from view when using the Hide command appear with the given criteria.
This makes the visual world of 3D completely different on a presentation
level also. When you
first play around with this setting, set your shade mode to hidden.
Those with weaker graphics cards will see a major reduction in screen
performance in this mode. Be careful with this setting! If your
graphics card can't keep up, just issue the Hide command to see the effect.
Start with setting the Linetype to
hidden, the Halo gap percentage can be left at 0, and show the
intersections in the Hidden Line Settings dialogue box. Your run of the mill hidden 3D view is now a
spectacular illustration showing those hidden line positions! With a
little playing you can come up with some very informative visual aids for
your 3D projects. Enjoy. |
