When PostalCAD 2002 was released all
of the Layer naming conventions were changed to be compatible with the AIA
(American Institute of Architects) standards. That's right every
block, template file, and all routine entities were changed also.
The easiest way to update your drawing is to use the tried and true Rename
dialogue box to simply rename those entities that are of the old convention.
A couple of PostalCAD utilities will come in handy just before you use the
Rename command.
The Block Count (BC) and Layer Count (LC) utilities will create a Notepad
file for each of the corresponding entities that the utilities list and
count. You can use these lists to match the old names with new names from
the AS504 block library that is included with the Library manager for blocks
and the PostalCAD template file for renaming Layers. The PostalCAD
standards file can be opened by typing in OPS at the command line.
Those users who have 2004 based products of AutoCAD can use the CAD
Standards Layer translator to rename your Layers even faster than using the
Rename command by using the PostalCAD Standards file as the Layer template
to map layers to.
