Tip for Week 03/8/04

Have you ever tried to use the Multiline command and edit any of those objects?
Way too complex for the casual user to comprehend.
Save yourself the trouble if you need to simply draw two parallel lines for some walls and use the PostalCAD wall utilities.
The PostalCAD wall utility uses the old, tried and true, Dline command.  This command allows you to set the width, break intersecting lines, and cap off the open ends of the lines being drawn with a few command line options.  PostalCAD will even put the lines on the right layer for you!
Go to your Layout menu pull-down and expand the Architectural listing.  Now, go to the Walls cascade and chose which preset wall type and width that you need.  If you pick the Wall listing at the top you can place both interior and exterior walls on the same layer at any width you desire using the Width option at the command line.  The other listings will draw the lines at preset intervals on the corresponding layers.
Most of the command line options are easy to understand and can be mastered within a few minutes.
The Dragline allows you to justify where the lines are drawn relative to your cursor position.
Combine these wall tools with the PostalCAD Clean intersection and Multi-Offset commands and you can layout an entire set of offices within an hour or two at the most.
