Sometimes the best tools are a little
hidden from view and you have to look for them. The Search button at
the top of the Design Center window is one of those commands. This
command is just as powerful as the Design Center utility itself and then
some. The Design Center can "look" into un-opened drawings and show
you content. The Search command will do the same thing and more
depending on the filters selected.
Open the Design Center and pick the Search button at the top.
Pull down the drop down list next to "Look For".
The list is the same as the entities listed in the main dialogue box and
more.
Of note here are drawings and blocks and most importantly, the listing for
Xref's. If you have ever used Xref's a lot you will find this option
useful in finding and listing all of those Xref's!
The next time you think to yourself where is that instance of a layer,
block, xref, etc. think of the Design Center.
