Do you know where to find the best drivers? I'm
not talking about golf clubs here, I'm talking about printer drivers for
Hewlett Packard printers and plotters. Most
printer hardware comes with it's own software or is available from the
established list in the Add Printer wizard in most Windows operating
systems. Because so many users team together
AutoCAD and HP printer hardware, HP writes drivers that are
specifically tweaked for AutoCAD use.
On your AutoCAD installation CD you will
find a folder called ENU. I have a Map 5.0
CD and the path is D:\MAP\WINDOWS SYSTEM DRIVERS\HP\ENU. Your
path should be similar. Below this folder
are two more folders that hold the actual drivers. NT_WIN2000
and WIN9X. These depend on which Windows operating system you have.
The best way to have these available all the
time is to copy them to your hard drive or network drive for future use.
When setting up a new HP printer with the Windows Add Printer wizard,
look for the "Have Disk"
button after selecting the manufacturer and specific printer.
Navigate to the copied files from the
AutoCAD install CD and finish out the wizard.
Users should always use the latest and greatest drivers available to take
advantage of new updates and resources on the new drivers.
Visit the manufacturers website every six
months or so to check for newer drivers.
