Now that we have internet capability almost everywhere in
our lives, we tend to use the same home page over
and over again. This week we'll see how to make use
of the BROWSER command in AutoCAD.
AutoCAD allows users to set a default internet
location for use with it's browser command.
The INETLOCATION system
variable sets this default location.
When you first install AutoCAD the default location
is http://www.autodesk.com.
Enter INETLOCATION at the command line and enter your favorite or most
useful web address. A simple way to ensure that the web address
entered is correct would be to navigate in your browser to the favorite site
and then cut and paste from the browser command line to AutoCAD's.
Once you have set the default location,
simply type in BROWSER at the command line and hit enter. Your
default internet browser will open to that favorite address.
This entry would be your CAD home page such as the
USPS engineering website that is different then the home page in your
browser. A custom button or keyboard shortcut could make this
tip a one shot command.
