Tip for Week 4/14/03

Ever have those circles and arcs show up like six sided polygons?
There is an easy solution to fixing that, the VIEWRES variable.  The VIEWRES variable controls how AutoCAD will display objects that are curved, such as circles, arcs, ellipses, and splines using short straight segments rather than smooth arcs.  The higher the number value of the VIEWRES variable, the smoother the object will appear in the drawing window.  When prompted for fast zooms always reply with a yes.  With the speed of todays PC's this variable should always be maxed out to the highest allowable setting of 20,000. Any machine running above 350 MHZ can easily handle this value.  Cure those jaggies and enjoy the 20,000 threshold!
