Tip for Week 1/20/03

This Tip explains how to continue DTEXT from the last string of text entered.

Many times you will need to align another string of DTEXT on the next line after the command has ended and have that text be registered correctly with the first set of entries. AutoCAD has left an intelligent default action associated to the DTEXT command to accomplish this task. After the DTEXT command has been issued at least once in a session, the height, justification, and the position are retained. Therefore, if you create other objects and then decide to continue adding DTEXT to the last string that you were working on, all you will have to do is start the DTEXT command.  Rather than selecting a starting point, you simply press enter, a second time, to highlight the last string entered.  Press enter one more time to begin your text string on the next line below the previous one. Voila! Instant registration to the previous line of text!
