PostalCAD Fundamentals |
The goal of this course is to provide students with tools to design and layout a
Postal facility. The program addresses the specific needs of Postal employees
designing mail-processing plants with the tools available in AutoCAD and
PostalCAD 2006. The instructor introduces and demonstrates new
drafting principles and techniques. Students
then explore the material and investigate the new techniques as a group, or at their own
pace. This hands-on course will take a
student through the process of designing their own facility and master many of the newly
learned application areas:

PostalCAD
Standardization |
The intent of this course is to
allow experienced USPS PostalCAD students the opportunity to modify
their existing workroom floor drawings to achieve PostalCAD
standardization while learning the proper cleanup procedures. Students are
required to bring the current version of their facility drawings to work on
during the class. File settings, layers, equipment blocks, and graphic
elements of the student’s drawings will be updated using AutoCAD and
PostalCAD tools and techniques.
Class format is a combined lecture and lab
where students review concepts and tools at the beginning of the session and
then apply those concepts directly to their facility drawings. In addition
to the group sessions during the class, time will be allowed each day for
the instructor to work with students individually to assist with their
drawing cleanup.
Upon completion of the course the student’s
drawings will be labeled as PostalCAD Certified by the
instructor. This certification states that the facility drawing now meets
the current PostalCAD standardization and formatting rules
established for the USPS.

PostalCAD Advanced Features |
The goal of this course is to
introduce experienced US Postal Service users to advanced techniques in
PostalCAD 2006. These techniques will help students to optimize
drawing capabilities and to create solutions to problem drawings using
PostalCAD 2006.
While the class is structured around the instructors demonstration of methods and
techniques, with the primary focus being on students working through exercises together,
there is latitude for advanced students to explore new techniques at their own pace. Students are encouraged to bring drawings of their
own facility that may be worked on and cleaned-up during the week of class.
